STEM

STEM

STEM is a community of over 20,000 teachers; technicians; teaching assistants, governors and industry volunteers, all involved in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education of young people, supporting and collaborating with each other to improve the outcomes of young people.

I volunteer in my spare time to help support STEM activities, including:

  • Technology events in schools, colleges, universities and community spaces.
  • Coding and hackathons, such as Raspberry Pi Jams.
  • Mock interviews.
  • Talks on careers.
  • Supporting curriculum projects.
  • Judging design competitions (engineering, creative and coding).
  • Developing electronic and microcontroller-based projects.

You might find me some weekends at a local school, library or university helping young coders and hackers with their Raspberry Pi projects.

During, and for some time after, the Covid lockdown days. the Bognor Regis Raspberry Jam moved online. The audience was just as involved and enthusiastic though...and even allowed the BBC:microbit to join in...
